Tackling Impatience (2)

Day 2 of Tackling Impatience.

I've been doing night shifts from midnight to 8AM for 3 weeks now. Hence, during the day, I'd try to catch some sleep. The problem is that I'm living across from the landlord's son and the thing about this guy is that he's a kid/ adolescent/ early 20s/ late teens/ etc who just started University. After all these years living by myself, changing from apartment to apartment, I've learnt it's better to NOT surround myself with YOUNG STUDENTS. Wait, maybe that's a big generalization, let me fix it to: do NOT surround yourself with people who lack COMMON SENSE and RESPECT. Montreal is an old city with her old buildings which were poorly built with zero to none soundproofing quality. The walls around my bedroom are almost paper thin and I can hear everything happening in his apartment. Also, of course, my bedroom has to be next to his living room which contains his sound system. Isn't that just marvelous?

So, 2 weeks into my night shift, I switched from my bedroom to my living room to sleep on the couch (at least I won't hear noises from his apartment that prominently). But from times to times, he would still be banging his music super loud and I can hear all of the vibration from the bass. Not to mention, my heaters are also making a lot of crackling noise (which are to be fixed tomorrow, yay!). All of those combined drive me crazy every time and I always resort to looking for new apartments to move to on my phone. I've complained and explained to him that I'm on night shift so that he'd be a bit more sympathetic and not playing music loudly during the day, but it seems he tends to forget facts that do not directly concern him. :|

This morning, it happened again. But  instead of bottling the anger and frustration inside, I texted him right away. And to my surprise, it worked! I don't know if this makes sense but I find it helps reduce my anxiety and frustration with the place, thus, reduces my impatience to move to somewhere else. :) Afterwards, I slept till 7PM. Guess, tonight, I won't sleep at all.

Day 2's diary ends.
